Ditto Trevor's sentiments about what a great event it was. Met a lot of great people there, some of which definitely recruited for the BCF as shown my by presence here today. Midget 50 in 2011 sounds great. Any excuse will do for Spridget's to get together after this one. And no Trevor, gluing the cones down for the autocross won't be an option.

I still can't believe all those little spridgets were there all together at one time. That Thursday night I didn't want to leave the parking lot and go it, could have done an all nighter till the sun rose just talking and looking. I expected a lot from the meet up and it was much, much better than I expected. It lacked the "stiffness" that the few other british car gathings that I have been to had, right off the bat we were all on the same level. No one appreciates a spridget like another spridget owner. Sunday morning the wire and I went out to go for one last good ride in the midget before loading it on the infamous orange trailer. I saw Jeff kelly(the guy the won the hard luck story)as I was walking out and I told him I hoped he had better luck going home and he said he couldn't start yet because he had problems. Seems he somehow got the key out of the ignition and it was still one and battery was dead. I got my midget and brought it down and used my jumpers and ran my engine a while to charge up his battery. Then it still wouldn't start. The coil was burning hot. I got out an old spark plug I had and used it to check for fire but the fire was week. I had some emery cloth and ran though the points and then he got out a new coil he had and the old coil was a screw in to hold the coil wire and the new was the plug in type. I got out my spare distrbutor cap wiht the wires already on it and we used them and it started and ran. I gave him the coil wire out of my set to use for the trip home. A Good guy that man.

Nice little anecdote there Kim! cheers It would be really interesting (this is an assignment from the old teacher in me!) if everyone who was there wrote a short piece on a memorable moment or moments from Spridget 50 that relates to the camaraderie of Spridget owners!! thumbsup

After 2 bottles of Kims home brew, I don't remember much else! cheers
Seriously though, I had my car tweaked by Spritenut, PeterC, BillM and many others who all breathed their magic on it, and the car has never run better; so my utter thanks to them.
(I even did some electrical work, without supervision or a Haynes! OK, so I replaced a spade connector, but it's a start!)
EDIT: There is nothing like the smell of 80+ A-Series engines firing up first thing in the morning!

Here is a memerable moment for you. On the back highways of MO on my way to cape girardeau on highway 72, the speed limit is 60 on this two lane highway. All of a sudden this huge black hog steps right into the road. No way I can stop. I start blowing the horn and swerve into the oncoming lane(thank god it was empty) and just barely miss with the truck, in fact I think the passenger trailer fender just nicked his tail. Whew.

For me, the highlight was in meeting folks whose love for Spridgets span several generations. I met folks that remember the first glimpse of the first Bugeye they saw in the late fifties. Others, myself included, that drove a Spridget to high school in the sixties. And even some that are considerably younger than my car that have been bitten by the Spridget bug! In spite of age, the smiles these little cars bring is the same, no matter the number of wrinkles that may surround it.

For me, the best part was how much Trish enjoyed herself there. She felt right at home and made lots of new friends.

Lots of great memories, but the one that just popped into my head was Trish (in a moment of forgetting who she was talking to)asking (the worlds worst speller) Prop (Jeff O'Brien) how to spell cole slaw.
