Is there an easy way to get to the lower clamp on a BJ8?

Thanks Dave! Not good news, but I'll pick up a ratcheting screwdriver.

I do them from the top with a long screwdriver (drier that way too).
Undo the four (4) bolts into the bottom of the radiator (not the through bolts into the chassis) and just loosen the two (2) bolts at the top to swing the bottom out enough to access the clamp.
Taking it apart always depends how the last guy put it together, but that's the way I do them.

If you are not worried about originality and can get yours off, you can replace the lower hose clamp with one that has a hex head on it. I use an impact wrench with VERY low air pressure to be sure I do not over-tighten it. The impact wrench makes the job real simple since I do not have to have any clearance fto rotate the socket.

Hi Dave, Maybe it's just like real-estate. Location location location.
The clamp I use on mine has a hex nut with a flat head screwdriver slot. I positioned bolt head facing down at an angle towards the radiator release valve. I now have an easy access point with a screwdriver, or a 1/4" diameter socket extention shaft and socket. It's a straight shot.
Happy motoring! Roger
