Just curious, for you folks that are new to the Virtual Rally, what do you think so far?

This is great fun. Some skill, some luck.
How often do you hold rallies?

Thanks Basil for all of your efforts to get this game going.

Dan, you're doing very well for a first-timer! Keep an eye in your rear view for tn8wa - he's very good at this game too!

Basil, Great game, I'm having a lot of fun playing. Any possibility of a commercial product? Would be a small niche market though. Thanks for all the work putting this together

Glad you're enjoying it. I really hadn't thought of making it a "product" but rather a unique aspect of the BCF. Besides, by programming is much too "loose" to be a viable product.

Great game. One question for you. When you run into road work,as I have become great at doing, is the time shown the correct time for the speed entered or is it affected by the road work? Just want to know if I'm doing a that well calculating my route and speed.

I think the time you see is the time you actually would have based on your route and speed.

T8nwa is right on my tail. One flat tire could tie it up.

That is higher than the normal odds - maybe things will get better from here on. At least on the legs where nothing bad happened, you scored 9s and 10s - not too shabby. Dan is playing well, but hasn't had too many bad things happen.

I was slow to get started, but I'm starting to get the hang of it. (I'm not last anymore!) I would love to play this with my students. I have to teach a unit on maps and map reading this month and this would be a great way to work with them on Road Maps.
I'm actually working on a paper and pencil version that they would play in groups! (I even plan to have little strips of paper to give them that say "Road Work" just like I seem to constantly be finding!)
Thanks Basil..I'll let you know how your creation translates to 13 years olds!

Anything could happen. The race is early for most. 29 days of racing left.

Geez Dan, another Good Samaritan for 11 points! And you haven't even had to make a bribe yet! Just don't look back cuz t8nwa isn't too far behind ya!

I must have done something wrong since I was DQ from the race. Ah well, I guess I will just wait for everyone to finish at the bar.

Single malt for me. \:\)

From looking at your details (I can look at anyones details), it looks like you took a chance with speeding on leg 12! Lucky for you you didn't get a ticket or t8nwa would be even closer to your tail (You'd have lost 10 points)!

I think a 10 point hit would put me out of the race. I cannot afford a speeding ticket with t8nwa on my tail.

However I have lost most of my points to purchasing "one of those cheesy after-market fuel pumps!" I have had to replace a couple of them now.

Dan it also looks like you had at least one flat tire too! But thise two "Good Samaritans" didn't hurt either!

I finished today and had a real fun time with the rally!
Had a little bit of a learning curve, bad luck and a multiple good Samaritan points to keep me up in the pack.
Thanks!
This was fun.

Glad you enjoyed it! I tried to include a mix of skill and luck to make the game interesting. Probably the one thing I'd recommend to new players is, don't be too quick to try bribing officials too early in the game. A failed bribe can be disasterous.

Yup, a bad leg (-5) turned into a disaster with a failed bribe. i would be on a much better pace with the -5 instead of a -15

I am surprised by the number of people with a score of 10 -or better- who got it on the first leg & haven't run another. They should be feeling like they have a lock on this.

I was thinking they're all just hanging out and counting down the days to the final fourteen and then they're all gonna move at once as a group. Should be interesting if that's the case. Well this is year two for me and I'm having a great time still trying to figure it all out. I guess even the Batmobile gets fouled plugs and has to wait for road construction.

Pretty embarassing score for me. Should have not done the first bribe, the road construction and that fuel pump. I do better in the SCCA rallys in my Cooper.
