Thanks for the compliment. It has a ton of mods. I've owned it for over 25 years. In the Cruiser forums my sig says "bench seat,3speed "F"ing forever". It's seen a LOT of off road duty too. It's never seen the inside of a garage in it's entire life either. Drivetrain is all rebuilt and solid. Believe it not it doesn't leak. Well, there was the burst oil line recently that left a horrible trail into my driveway that is a 1/8 mile long. When I drained the oil while making the repairs there was on about 1 and 1/2 quarts of the 8 left. Still was belting out over 60 psi when I shut it down. Locked front and rear axles, dual batteries, on board shower system, all mechanical gauges, winch, header, cam, shaved head, header, magnetic ignition and more. It's a tank.

Rusty, leaked a lot of oil, but so much fun with the top and doors off. So in other words - it's BRITISH??!!

So in other words - it's BRITISH??!! Very similar, really. The simplicity of these things are indeed akin to many LBCs. For instance my tranny has a non-synchronized 1st gear. No timing belt. Chains?...Nope...gears. Non-self adjusting 4 wheel drum brakes w/ 2 adjusters per drum. No place on or under the dash for a radio. Manual choke. Toe-in adjust only front end. Leaf springs. Solid rear axle. No power steering. A gazillion zerk fittings. Simple but strong. Meant to be owner maintained.

In otherwords, about as far away from the new FJ cruiser as you can get. I'd love an old FJ-40. round here they all fell to pieces from rust (thier only weakness as far as I can see) Much like my swiss cheese CJ5 I managed to weld back togeather. Ah.... 4wds as they were ment to be enjoyed!

In otherwords, about as far away from the new FJ cruiser as you can get. It's worth noting that Toyota does NOT call that new thing a Land Cruiser. I have several friends with those FJ Cruiser and the things are amazing off the road. Not FJ40 amazing, but still pretty capable. Most I see on the road will never see off road sadly. Just like the Land Cruisers being turned into bloated luxo rides for soccer moms. Sigh...just a sign of the times I guess.
