Description
Came across this copy of Life Magazine on eBay, had to have it.

Yes, that's a TR4 that a house has landed on as a result of the earthquake that struck Alaska on Good Friday (March 27) 1964.

The photo appeared widely in the national press, on the cover of a booklet about the 'quake and on postcards for a number of years thereafter. I was looking on eBay for one of the postcards when I turned up the Life issue with it on the cover.

Well I guess if a house falls on a TR it is likely totalled but I gotta say it took the hit pretty well -- the house got the worst of it.

Thanks George,
I did not remember that photo. Looks like the car was at least a good parts car at that time. Wonder what its final fate was.
Cool find!

The whole package was recently listed on Ebay as a vintage motorhome. Not a single bid however.

I was a kid living on Kodiak when that happened. Our boat ended up 4 blocks away and the Land Cruiser became a sub! Great picture... brings back lots of memories!
