JS - is the POR Metal Ready treatment needed because the metal is brass? Or is it needed for any metal? I know that Metal Ready is recommended before using POR15, but didn't know it was recommended for metal treatment before *any* type of painting.

Gee. It looks like I'm back to the original suspect: the hazard flasher and/or hazard flasher switch. Now if I could only figure out where the flasher is. It's definitely not next to the turn signal flasher.

Are you installing a different distributor then? The stock 72 TR6 dizzy only had provisions for vacuum retard, which you definitely do NOT want connected to manifold vacuum (which would retard the spark all the time). By far the simplest approach i

I inadvertently dislodged the "slow-running spring" ( Moss # 62, 372-600) from the carb linkage and despite my best efforts, I just can't figure out where the two ends of the spring attach. A written reply would be nice, but a photo sent to

Any strong feelings between part #680-138 vs. #681-245 and related black poly bushings?

I agree with Randy, offer the $3000 and go from there. Explain to her that it will probably cost you over $30K to get it back to a nice driver. Good luck, Mike

As I've been reading up on them lately... what about an Alfa Romeo 1750/2000 Berlina? There seem to be several about in the US, despite them being now 30-40 years old. The reason I've been reading up on them is I've been offered one, here in Cyprus

Yes; look into the POR product line for metal treatment before painting to help the paint stick. Use Marine Clean first, then Metal ready to "Etch" the surface. from there you can build up with primer to topcoat.

Hi Porkchop, and welcome. I think you'll find Sprite/Midget are almost 100% interchangeable; most of the parts will also fit my Austin A40. Would you be prepared to ship stuff?

I think that is essentially 'THE Wire' for the cars electrics. For the ammeter to register current consumption everything has to flow thru it (other than the starter itself). You could leave the ammeter out by connecting its 2 wires but simply disc

One connection that you will not want to overlook is where the big cable connects to the starter. That spot (on my car anyway) can get hot and oily, not the best conditions for electrics. I have had it become a problem resulting in non-start, heat

To those who asked, I haven't done anything to the engine yet. In spite of the number of times I've worked on engines, I don't own an engine stand or I probably would already have the pan off. Perhaps I will be able to "get by" leaning th

My wife knows never to throw away old pillows -- they go out to the garage with old towels. Your set-up is nice... if you do 'break your neck' working under there you're already on a back board when the EMTs arrive!

I think that's the right ballpark; I'd offer $3k and see what happens. In the event it's not worth (it to you) to restore, I'm positive you could get back your money and then some by parting it out on Ebay. Just look at what some of the parts go fo
