well I'm Dumping gas

so I replaced the jets and the grose jets. and i did one of the temp sensors
but the carburetors over flow is still dumping gas

I mostly have the cold weather screw adjustment in the wrong place after fiddling with it.

any ideas should i do the needles? it started on the cold mornings so I thought it was the temp sensors.

there is an adjustment for them?
these are the HIF4 type

i first started seeing fuel dripping on cold mornings so i figured it was a temp sencer thing.
but ok ill look for a float adjuster.

On HIF-4s, the float is in the bottom of the carb, not like the earlier models with the exposed float bowl. Here's a diagram of an HIF-4 and circled float assembly. To set the floats on the HIF-4s, the carb has to be removed from the engine. I've heard of doing the floats while on the car, but there's no way I'd try it! To delicate. PJ

I didn't add that a float could have a fine crack in it and could possibly have fuel in it. I had one do this. Best thing to do if this happins is to replace it with new.

yes i just had it apart so i know where it is.
but didnt I see an adjustment screw for it.
the crack seems possible. but the problem first started on cold mornings and it wouldnt happen in the after noon.

Look to the choke assembly seals and as Paul suggests, the integrity of the float, along with its needle and seat. The last two should be "hospital clean" to do their job.

ok both are over flowing
i got the engine up to temp and took off the choke and its still leaking
so thats this mornings research.

Steve, have you checked your fuel pressure? These carbs can't stand much over 3 pounds of pressure.

Not necessarily, I'd just check the pressure and if it's at or below 3 lbs, I'd just leave it as is. JMHO. PJ

ok it looks like the issue was the O ring on the choke so the carbs are back on and it is no longer dumping gas
i did put in a pressure regulator
I unfortunate fiddled with the folcurm screw for the tempiture sensor on one carb.
so that is my first candidate for why im down on power and it sounds like a VW Bus

yep its ideling fine on a little choke its just above freezing today
but when i pull the throttle it bogs down
