TR2/3/3A Sill Finisher Plate

Some years ago I bought a set of NOS ribbed sill finisher plates. They came in a box and were wrapped in a sheet of news paper yellowed with age and dated with the year 1963. They have two holes punched in them. Have to assume that they are attachement holes. Have not found much in the way of info on how they were attached. The moss catalog indicated rivets but some pictures I have, show slotted screws. What have any of you done in this regard? The small slotted trim screws look like they might work well but should I use somethin with more umph to them?

Your thoughts and ideas greatly appreciated!

I used a pop rivet at each end. The metal is very thick (several layers) there. I broke a couple trim screws and punted to aluminum rivets, which worked great. Once the plates are in place, they don't really move. I had to tighten the fold on my plates to make them fit tightly (working the fold a little closer together) and then trim each end to fit. They look good. Once in place, you hardly notice them (but would notice if they were absent!)

Pat, I'm not sure that I understand what fold you are talking about. My plates have a 3/8" lip on one side and a slightly larger lip on the other side. At 50 something years old I would not want to get involved in re-bending them for fear of breaking that old aluminum. I do like the idea of the rivets though. Fast and tidy!

Dick are you talking about the finisher or the threshold plate? When you mention that they have ribs I'm thinking threshold. I can't help you there, I did not put them on the car. I think they were an aftermarket item so it shouldn't matter what you use to mount them. The original finisher plates on my car were held on with five finish screws for each plate.
