I have the chance to purchase a 750 Bonneville.
Black and re-built. Looks fantastic. Fires on the first kick.
Wife consents.
$3500.
How does this price sound?

It has been sitting at the shop for a few months.
Guy drives it a couple of days each week.
It's not a show resto but more of a nice rebuild.
I offered 3k today. He wants 4. I've done a bit of looking around and I think 3.5 is fair to all.
I'll wait a few days and make that offer.
Guess I should of asked what year. :jester:
I've looked and kicked the tires plopped my butt on
the seat. Kick fired it. Never thought to ask the
model year. I'll ask out next week.
We started a few moons back at 5.
They had some nice bikes there and a Triumph chopper.
A couple of BSAs too. A Triumph 250 dirt deal as well.
Harleys, of course.
I like that black 750.
I'm trying to be patient.....but I like that black beast.

I paid $3500 for my 78 Bonneville a few years ago. The engine was overhauled at 28000 mi. The rest of it was in nice condition, probably more maintained than restored. I replaced the tires, got rid of the peashooter mufflers and installed EMGO reverse cones.

Lord don't get me started with modifications.
This bike is probably more maintained than restored.
Tires are recent replacements.
Bad....influence....I gotta go goggle EMGO.

Man, those things are beautiful. I've been Youtube surfing and
laughed out loud at the # of "starting my Triumph" videos.
My favorite was the dude starting a custom without mufflers
and just down tubes. After it fires...finally....one
of the down tubes fall off of the head. Cracked me up.
I love the simple nature of the things.
Still on the fence. Need more bad influence.

Well i am sure we can post some more teasers if you like. 35 sounds like a good price. I paid that for mine. It seems to be the "nice deal" price. But for that i would expect a clean looking, well running , road-able bike. Sounds like that may be just what you have found.

Good luck with your offer, and post some pics when you get it.

That is the type of seat on this one. Wife says one condition
is non-negotiable : She ain't going to ride it...alone or
on the rear of that seat.
She and Hap's wife planted the seed a couple
of years back at CMP. After watching some rocket bikes
go round the race track : "Well, we can be thankful they aren't into bikes!"

I haven't owned a bike in about 35 years.
Hmmmmmmm....quietly I've been thinking ever since.
:jester:
Good to have support for a foolish endeavor.
Thanks guys!

Bikes make a nice compliment to the old cars and trucks. I've had a bike in the stable for the last 15+ years, and won't be without one for very long if I ever do sell mine. I'll be riding until I'm too old to balance it. Then I'll bolt on a sidecar.

Truth told, I like riding better than driving if it's just me, a clear morning, and a great stretch of road.

Get it. Ride it. Enjoy it.

About the same deal here David. I have never owned a bike until a few years ago when I bought the Bonneville. A room mate in college 40 years ago had a 650 that I used to ride. Figured if I was going to do this I better get on with it cuz time is not on my side. Wife does not ride with me, don't think it is a good idea. I always wear protective equipment, it can happen.

It's mine! Patience pays off.
He came around to my terms.
He needed a lawyer for some stuff and I needed a bike.
Varoom.
Taking delivery early next week after a complete service.
Pics to follow.
