Positive Ground History with Triumph Motorcycles

I have gotten an almost complete set of Triumph Pre Unit Motorcycle Technical Service Bullitens from 1951 - 1959. Very interesting reading - I think. Anyway TSB #93,June 23 1952 explains why Positive Ground was decided upon. Check it out here in my Virtual VinMoto Garage (CP's)in the TSB folder!

Quite interesting reading.

They mentioned a Lucas "Energy Transfer Ignition System" in #257. I hope it would be better than the original on my '57 T20 as it was garbage (along with the generator and oil pump).

The T20 has a permanent magnet generator. Kind of removes the need for a regulator.

I really wonder about the engineering of the day. The TSB-002 actually tells people to put oil into a drinking container (coca cola bottle) and that the bottom of the writing is about 130cc.

And there we have it. If we change ground from negative to positive, would it not just move the corrosion to the other side?
