I would have posted this in the Restoration/Car Care Forum but since this is bike related......

Brent @ vintage-vendor.com just finished the tank on my '71 Norton Commando. It's pretty sweet! I just hope I can do the tank justice by restoring all the other parts to the same level.

I do. ...I know that'll be the hard part....also resisting installation of the tank before the bike is totally complete. I can picture it now, an errant bolt or socket smacking the top of the tank. :cry:

That seems eminently sensible to me. You'll eventually scratch it, but it would be a true shame to do that before you've even ridden it.
