Hi Randy,

Yes, it is the Addco setup. I have an oversized bar in the front as well.

He does good work Randy, eh?

He doesn't know it yet but I'm about to ship him a TR4a which will be so sloppy he won't be able to help himself but to restore it to this quality... Shhhh...

I love the work you are doing, looks great. Could you show some picts of the rear sway bar? I have the same one but I am not sure on the exact installation. The instructions are fair at best.

Had fun taking apart and putting the handbrake back together.

Anyone interested in some pics? Looks a little more daunting but is probably less tricky than a TR6 one IMO.

Never seen an Addco bar that attaches with links like that. Must be a new design for the 3. How is the rear bracket attached to the legs of the frame?

The rear Addco on my 4A solid axle is also different in that the bar goes forward of the axle instead of behind. The IRS version goes behind, same as the 6.

Hi Peter,

If you are talking about where the bushings and brackets mount to the frame they are secured through the frame with lag type screws. I also have an option of adding a couple of welded plates to the base of the frame to reinforce the area if required. It seems pretty sturdy now, but I will keep an eye on it in the future once I get some driving in.

Eeek - lag screws, really? Like this ? https://ecx.images-amazon.com/image..._PIcountsize-600,TopRight,0,0_AA110_SH20_.jpg

Lag screws are for joining wood and most certainly rip out of your frame taking bits of frame with it.

My advice would be to install reinforment plates on top of the frame and drill all the way through the frame channel from top to bottom and then use a grade 5 or better hex bolt and lock nut, either nylocs or metal. The bottom won't need reinforcement since it already has the Addco mounting plate there. It's already a weak point in the frame back there so the more solid attachment, the better.

Peter - any pictures of how yours on the 4A mounts?

The 4A solid axle has a unique mount. I have the Addco install sheet and it shows a front of the axle mounting. Mine is hanging by nylon straps as I haven't finished up back there but I will try to get a photo for you. Last week it was up on the lift but since the snow is here, my Audi is "up", the 4A is "down" and the 3A is in the new addition.

The end links are normal Addco style - a thick metal plate that bolts to one leg of the u-bolt the spring plate, then poly bushings and a bolt between the bar ends. From addco.net https://02bbfb5.netsolhost.com/images/solution.jpg
