Oh, yes... it started right-up after about 1/2 a revolution of the crank in EDIS limp home mode. The carbs and their linkages are all out of wack and it didn't idle well, but it ran long enough to turn on the fan. I have an oil leak on the right side that I can't figure out though.

There is a threaded hole of about 3/8" diameter just behind the rearmost freeze plug and just under the oil fitting that goes to the remote filter that is leaking. Is this a vent or a port for oil temp or pressure? There is a port on the adaptor I installed where the oil filter used to be that I am using for oil pressure and I have a temp plug in the Speedwell oil pan. I left my manual in Tucson and I am in LA with the car.

I still have to wire up the gauges so I don't want to run it again until I do, that will be on Tuesday after the UPS delivery brings some parts.

That position just about fully describes the point where an oil pressure gauge would normally connect to. I guess some filter heads may have pressure taps also, but the one you're describing is the standard one on the block. If you don't want to use it... it should be 1/8 BSP but I think you'll find a 1/8 NPT plug with some Teflon tape will seal it just fine.

Yep, sounds the stock pressure port, I'm guessing you must be picking up oil pressure up exterior of the engine, at the remote filter housing perhaps. It should have shot off like a cannon with oil if it were open.

I just got some parts for a fella who has just got a Westfiled 11 kit, cool cars.

Thanks, that's what I was hoping. I will get a plug tomorrow, my pressure signal comes from the filter adaptor, so I have no need of that one. I have all electric gauges and while it keeps fluids out of the cockpit it makes wiring the dashboard more complex. I am going to get the electrics completed in the next few days, close up the scuttle of the car and move on to tuning and adjusting everything to make it drivable.

Just a reminder of why I have been hanging about this forum for the past few years: my soon to be completed Westfield project contains much of a 1967 Sprite I bought for $300. In fact the engine block, crank, carbs, rear axle with brakes and front suspension uprights all came from the original donor. As well as the motor mounts, pedal box assembly with clutch and brake cylinders and two out of four wire wheel hubs. It had a nice fiberglass hardtop which I sold as well as the old rib case transmission, the windshield and some other parts. No one wanted the body (surface rust only) so I rented a small dumpster and cut it up with a sawzall in about an hour and a half. Anyway it still lives on as a bit racier of a car.
