My "new" 1968 BSA Starfire 250

Hello fellow British Bikers. Have 60 AH BugEye. As if that's not enough to work on, now have 68 BSA. Have had 4 Rice burner bikes & two Bultaco's.

This Bike is 2nd owner, 5,432 orig miles. Everything works. It drives well. Don't want show bike. Do want a very good looking bike (it looks good now, but can be improved).
Do want to ride in neighborhood.

So, I'm a neophyte. Need referral to Brit Bike Formu(s). Places to order parts, etc.

I'm an older guy and there's a steep learning curve here. So, all your help is sincerely appreciated.

Tony He asked for a referral to a brit bike forum- so i gave him one. Lots of links there for parts suppliers and the folks are friendly.

Re: My "new" 1968 BSA Starfire 250

I had a starfire for years. Since we have no photo, I am going to have to guess that it still has the original "US style" handlebars. If so, scrap them for a flatter set more like they came in England. The improvement in rideability is not to be believed. Do you have the skinny BSA single leading shoe front brake, or the much improved double leading shoe? I always ran mine on points, but some folks like the electronic ignition conversion. I had mine for a decade, and it always started first or second kick. The other thing you can do is to track down an oil filter assembly from a 71 or 72 BSA/Triumph 250. This is a stand alone canister filter that mounts on the rear engine plates near the battery. This will help protect the fairly fragile plain bearing bottom end of the engine. Hurry up and post a picture. We love OBBs around here

O.K. Guys.......I get it. I will post a picture. I've never done that before, but I'll get my secretary to assist. I would have my wife help, but she actually doesn't know I have the bike...yet. It's in my next door neighbor's garage. I'll eventually tell the wife. It's easier to get forgiveness than permission.
