Little Paint Pearl

Guys,
As you TR6 owners all know, the tail end of the cars are all painted black. (actually, a few made it out of the factory body-colored for some reason) I have found the perfect solution to painting this area whether you have a totally new spray job or just want to touch up the faded or exhaust-coated rear of your car. Krylon makes a spray called Semi-Flat (code #1613) that sells at WalMart for less than three bucks. (I hate WalMart, but that is a story for another day) I have used this paint now for three years and it shows zero signs of wearing and it is the perfect shade of black for the TR6. You can scuff the existing paint, mask it very carefully and do it right in your garage. Really sharpens up an already sharp car.

Bill you have discovered a little bodyshop secret, the trim on a lot of cars is semi-flat and krylon is the fastest & best match for most of them. Just a few weeks ago I was doing the rear panel on my 71, and yes krylon was the choice

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll file that away in the memory banks for future reference. Glad to see someone else hates Walmart besides me.

Hates Walmart!! My wife won't even allow me to park our RV in their parking lot overnight for free when we're on the road!

Dr. Bill, thanks for that pointer. 1970 GT6s also have the exact same "matte" or flat black color surrounding the windshield.

I'm getting a new paint job this month and you just answered a key question for me!

I'm loving this website.

Rob,
Gary Martin is somewhere in the Dakotas. I've forgotten which one and what city but I can tell you that Richard Good <goodparts.com> was the one to turned me on to him. A true perfectionist when it comes to ZS or SU carbs, they look like new and he is extremely reasonable. Drop Richard a line from his website
(I have used a lot of his stuff, really good) and he will tell you how to call Gary. I would have to did through too many receipts to find his number.
