    Anyone race prepped a TR3?

Just day dreaming. What would the steps be to take a TR3 from junk to the track. I saw a guy who did that on youtube (the yellow TR3). Looked like fun.

What would you put in for the engine (or do to a standard block), tranny and drive train, etc? Chassis, roll bar, etc. How to get it "certified." I am starting from ZERO knowledge on this. But soon I will have more time on my hands and this might be a load of fun (and $).

Whatever you chose, VSCCA or just SCCA Solo1 or 2, what you do to the car has to adhere to the rules of the club. SCCA has a GCR (General Competition Rules) that list what you can and cannot do in each class.

It's a good starting point. Also you will need driver training and a license for anything but Solo2 (autocross).

A TR3 only makes sense under vintage racing rules, which makes prep a lot easier, but pretty much requires a stock type engine and so on.

Find one of Kas Kastner's "Competition Preparation" manuals, preferably (IMO) one of the originals from the 60s. It has lots of solid, concrete tips that are (mostly, I believe) VARA legal.

Lots of good stuff on Tony Drews' web site, too
