TR2/3/3A Gearshift lever chatter

I have a photocopy of Triumph dealers bulletin #T-61-7 dated March 29, 1961 paragraph 4 page 2 Gearshift lever chatter talks about a previous Bulletin covering this topic and goes on to detail the way to fix it. Slide down over the gear shifter leaver a fairly heavy piece of rubber or neoprene tube 7/8" long and 5/8" inside diameter. Press it down until it comes in contact with the fulcrum ball. Reassemble and that is all that is necessary. The rubber or neoprene tube will act as a vibration damper in this position.
Does anyone have a copy of the original Bulletin of a photo of how it looks when fitted.

Just reviewed all the Bulletins from 1953 through 1964. There is one in June 1955 referring to a better rubber grommet. I am not sure which one it refers to, and there are no pictures on that bulletin. It is an “upgraded” part, and not an addition.

The only other tranny vibration bulletin is also in June 1955, but that is when they added the spring and plunger to the bottom of the shifter...no mention of rubber sleeves.

I’ll be happy to post either/both if you are interested, but they are not what you are looking for.

603065 (the rubber "grommet") mentioned in your first bulletin is the gearshift boot, that seals the shift lever to the tunnel.

I would love to get a copy of all the bulletins from 1958 through 1960, as my collection has a huge hole there. I have only two from 1958 and 3 or 4 from 1961, nothing in between.

I did find another set of instructions for adding the rubber tube, but they are the same as T-61-7, with the exception of warning not to let the shift lever come up and lose the plunger on the bottom. Unfortunately, I did not record where they came from; they don't appear to be from a service bulletin.

I did this last year and it works very well. I seem to recall that 7/8" was too long and I ended up trimming it down a bit from that.

Well...now I know I have a hole in my bulletins too!

Your instruction sheet explains the process much better than Bulletin T-61-7 especially paragraph 5 because I can see some scuffing on the gear stick that could account for the chatter.
