Hi...my name is Gary..I have been a little slow to introduce myself... I have used used this site for years and decided to join ... I have always found this site to be incredibly helpful.. I have got more useful info here than even my local Healey club....just so many people from everywhere sharing ideas..info and solutions to restoring our cars and keeping them running....I have a 1967 BJ8 I bought in April 1969 (50th anniversary coming up !! )..it was a daily transportation till 1976.. by then it need several things.. top..carpet..gas tank..trans rebuild.. so I parked it with plans to get it back on the road.. life happened (marriage..kids..houses ) and the car sit for 30 years... it was always special to me so I kept it garaged ..I would take the plugs out..squirt oil in the cylinders and roll it back and forth to keep the engine from locking up .. forward to 2005..I retired and decided that it was a good project to get going on .. took a couple of years to take everything apart and do what I thought needed attention.. now she's back on the road !!..I guess a Healey is always a 'work in progress' ..I'm still doing a few things.. My first Healy was a 1961 Sprite ..a bugeye..( owned 1967-1969 ) it was a really 'neat' car..it was a Sebring Sprite ... wire wheels.. removable hardtop..front disk brakes.. I was 19 and when I would buy parts many of the local parts guys knew the car and told me it had been BMC team car raced at Sebring in 1961 !!!.. used for a 3 hour celebrity race..( I still wonder if that car is still around ) I live in the Atlanta area and had bought the car from Downings Auto..they were the place to go back then if you where a sports car buff.. it was run by the dad..Jim Downling was his son and has always been involved in sports cars..he raced for Mazda for many years ..and is co-inventor of the 'HANS deviced'... my other sports car was a 1975 Datsun 280Z I bought in 1980 and was my daily driver for 18 years !!!.. till she got hit and that was the end of that..a great car !!... a totally different experience..nothing ever when went wrong.. just a little maintenance and I think it would have run forever... 270k on the odometer ...... well thats my story.. I have lots of questions and hope to enjoy this site...... Gary
