Air Deflector Assembly

I have a '62 3000 tri carb BT7 which had an overheating issue last summer. The air temperature was 32C or 90F and the radiator temp at a highway speed of 65 started climbing towards 200F. Once in town the temperature came back to 190. The car has a new 160F thermostat and I just had the radiator checked and flushed with nothing found. At cooler outside air temperatures, the radiator temperature seldom exceeds 180F. I found an old thread on this forum which talked about the installation of an air deflector assembly which is completely missing on my car and I am wondering if this is the source of my heating problem. The first question is "do I need the air deflector assembly?" and the second is "how difficult is it to install?" The pictures on that early thread show the attachment at the top but the bottom is a bit vague. It appears to attach to a support bracket for the grill but there is little room back there especially once that deflector panel is in place. Also I have the radiator out at the moment which would aid the installation of the air deflector but that would make installing the radiator more difficult. Which should come first. Any and all tips appreciated

Definitely buy the air deflector assembly. Moss catalog section: "Cooling 100-6, 3000", item 20.
If you don't have them, also buy the Splash Panel Set with Stays, Moss section: "Inner Body Panels, 100-6, 3000", items 10 & 15.

You need these for cooling to keep air from recirculating forward.

When you get these items, if you need pictures of installation or other tips, I'll post pictures of my installation.

I like to use 1/4-20 u-nuts on the top holes, so get a couple of those, too. Otherwise bolting them through the shroud in front of the radiator with an assistant holding the nuts from below is a real bear. The lower stuff, crossbar, stays and the splash shields are more straightforward. Work is done from below and behind the grille.
