Beware eBay wiper blade and arm sales

I recently noticed an eBay add for new wiper arm and flexible blade assemblies from the UK. Blades are just a bit longer than the stock rigid blades we TR2 and TR3 dudes use but only by a bit. The add indicated that these stainless steel blades and arms fitted TR2 TR3 TR4 and TR5. I was suspicious and asked the seller about the specs. Got no reply but there was a photo of a well driven TR3 with a pair installed. I ordered and received a set. Here is what one looks like installed. The driver side is original of course.

Too bad, I was really excited about a pair of wiper arms that actually wiped the windscreen. Any comment from the vendor?

His comment was that he had sold the same to other TR3 owners in the UK with no concerns. That there must be a difference with Federal cars??? Not sure what that meant and I advised that my TR3 was built in Coventry on Jan 19th 1959.

It is possible to shorten the arms by drilling out the two rivets, cutting the arm to a suitable length, re-drilling it and re-riveting it to the bottom portion. Won't get to that till I get home from FLA in April.

FWIW, I've been using MGA blades for a long time, which are spring-loaded flexible rather than rigid as the original TR3 blades are. They fit on the stock TR3 arms.

LHD TR3s do have different arms than RHD. AFAIK, the only difference is which way the arm is bent, but that might make a difference on how high the blades try to run on the glass.

Looking at that photo I cannot imagine any windscreen that these would fit correctly. The lower end of the blade is so high (not to mention the specific issues with the TR3).
