62 BT7 squeak

while driving yesterday i get this chatter noise. a sort of squeak. it seems loudest around 50mph. don't notice it slower and not sure i can hear it faster. if i push on the brake pedal just a little bit, it goes away. ears aren't what they used to be but it sounds to me like it is coming from the left front of the car. no vibration no roughness. just this squeak.

Maybe i need a shim in the caliper?

Likely you're hearing a slight noise from the front brake pads as they catch slightly on the rotor's outer edges where surface corrosion occur. Do BT7s require pad shims? BJ7s do. Install shims if missing. Also consider caliper grease on the pad's backplate, or do both. If the squeak is intermittent, like on rough roads, sharp left or right turns, just accept it knowing you have functional brakes. Alternatively, and if it's really bothersome, use a silicon based product like "Brake-Quiet" on the pad's backplate.

BTW - did the squeak begin after bleeding brakes or some other "hold-the-brake-pedal down overnight" procedure? GONZO

i think it began after bleeding. i remember hearing it for a while and then not. once in a while i would hear it, push on the brake pedal kind of hard and then not hear it again. the other day it came back a little while after braking. i believe i have some shims and can't remember if i shimmed the left wheel or not.

i will pull the wheel and check the caliper. also hit it again with some brake quiet.
