Correct side screen nut for early 58 BN4

Going to restore some sidescreens for my Feb 58 100-6 and I am stumped by which is the correct side screen configuration.
Derek’s Healey site on page 3 of Longbridge features indicates the Abington side screen change was made after car 47703.
Moment and Anderson’s book says that my car should have the single ear nut and star nut.
Which is correct and if I need that star nut, where is the best place to find two? I assume it’s 16tpi as well?

You don’t mention the number of your car but given the manufacture date then it should have the early screens, the star shaped nut and also the single eared nut for the the other fitting. The first series 100-Six’s were manufactured at both Longbridge, until late 1957 and then at Abingdon until April 1958.

It’s BN4LO56828.
i assume the star nut was 16tpi like the single ear? So I should try to find the Longbridge brackets as well that attach to the side Screen?

Apologies for my previous post. It’s been a long time since I was researching the sidescreens. Whilst most of the ‘Longbridge’ features carried through to the first quarter 1958 production at Abingdon, the sidescreens did change in late 1957 so your car should have the Abingdon screens. My first car was 56053 and had them. You car is very close in numbers to the ones that had Morris Green engines but I think yours was produced just after that finished.

Hi Derek -No worry. My car does have the Morris Green paint as well. So the sidescreen nut at the front is the two eared wing type or star nut? On page 99 of the Moment/Anderson book they write that the third style of frame was introduced after car 47704 but "...The star shaped nut at the front and the wing nut (single ear) at the rear were not changed". So whatever your car had mine should have too and maybe the book is incorrect? Thanks.

Yes, I believe that is correct. My car also had the single ear and star shaped nuts. Your car has the latest number I know
of those with Morris Green engines.

Very interesting indeed. The build date was Feb 3-5, 1958 so the "mistake" in the painting must have been caught shortly after with the engine. My mechanic pulled the oil pan and the original bearings were in there and he confirmed the engine was not rebuilt. Once I get the car back I can send you a pic. Thanks for your help! J

I will not get to the chrome shop for a few weeks so bear with me. I do have a hand full already made so that will speed things up. I can sell them un chromed for 50.00 a pair if you have a local source of your own. PM me if interested to purchase now before I send the batch out next week or the week after. I do have some stock left to make a few more pairs if I run out.
