side curtain felt placement in channel

refurbishing the side curtains for my 1959 bn6. i think i have done the hard part in replacing the outer rubber seal! i ordered new perplex pieces and new felt as well. ready to place the felt. the side curtains that i have do no have felt in place. and, it seems that healey spares only sent enough felt for one side.....how much of the channel for the inner sliding window is lined with the felt material? thanks for a quick answer as i am doing this job right now... well I just checked my invoice and it seems that even though I ordered for two side curtains that they only sent the felt for one side curtain!!!

Suggestions:
You may wind up putting the felt on bottom, front and rear channels. Mine came from Moss with the felt already installed. Had to remove the upper felt in the outer channel because the window kept popping out and didn't want to slide.

I found it helpful to trim the leading edge of the rubber to about 1/4" so it barely contacts the channel on the windshield post. Leaving it full width tortures it and contributes to early failure. The crack that seems to inevitably develop at the "point" can be filled with black weatherstrip adhesive.

I cut a piece of masonite the same overall shape as the sidecurtain - to insert in the bag to protect the plexiglas. This after I piled some stuff on top of the curtains in the boot - breaking one of the plex panels.

It's a good idea to take a rat-tail file and round off the sharp edges inside the "point" as they're good places for cracks in the rubber to start.

well I have the felt in place on one side and have ordered the felt for the other side. QUESTION ???? what type of adhesive is used to attach the small rectangular piece of perspex to the sliding Perspex panel??? thanks steve for the tips!

There is a solvent that actually welds the two parts together. Probably methylene chloride.

Yes, Tap Plastics sells the solvent. You use a needle to apply a drop to the edge of the small rectangular piece and it is wicked into the gap.

BTW, when AH Spares sent my felt, they sent two pieces.
