Hey group, just wanted to share some pictures of our work on the Morris 8. A few problems with the fuel pump meant that we had to tow the car back up my driveway on the first two drives. My driveway has about 100 yards of a 40% hill. On the third drive after changing the fuel pump, the car made it up the hill in 2nd gear!
Now to be brave enough to take it out on the road! 1936 Morris 8 , about 27hp

Some work still to finish.
1. Need a top frame. I will probably try to find a MG TD or TF frame and cut and weld it to fit.
2. Install the convertible top
3. Figure out why the speedometer now does not work, (I think it is the cables)
4. Paint touch up

I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Congratulations! Really looks excellent.

We'd probably appreciate a few photos of the engine area ... Maybe a video of the engine starting up and running?

here is the engine installed, at least most of it. I had to replace the intake and carburetor and exhaust. This project took longer than I expected, we had to make many parts. Over 81 years someone took parts off the car and did not replace them. I got much better at working with metal. Everything behind the front seats, metal and wood was rebuilt new. Making the new wood frame was fun, my dad used to have a cabinet shop so wood working is in my blood. Metal working was not, but I had a friend that got me started and many of the metal parts we made from pictures. The rear valance, (between the rear fenders and below the spare tire) is 8 pieces of metal welded together. I don't have an English Wheel so I had to use my bead roller and shrinker/stretcher. Car still needs adjustments, the brakes pull to the right and they are still mushy. More bleeding needed. By the way, this engine is a 917cc side valve. Same engine as used on the Centurian tank and the first Morris Minor in 1948. engine installed (2).jpg

Was it used as a generator or something on the Centurion? Its prime mover was the Meteor, the unblown Merlin.

It was the engine that drove the centurion according to the Morris Register. And people have bought up all the left over engines and parts to fix Morris 8s. The military added an oil filter, water pump and few other minor things but it is the same engine. I don't know how this engine moved a tank around.

" I don't know how this engine moved a tank around."

Very slowly and laboriously.
