New member here and recent Midget purchaser

I bought a '76 Midget a few weeks ago and stumbled across this site while looking for info to adjust the carb. The previous owner knew little about mechanics and the car ran very rich. I'm still fiddling with it b/c the car wants to stall when at operating temperature. So far, I've had to replace the dual gauge, and have had the dash out. I also made a heat shield to help the carb stay cooler. My other car I'm working on is an '81 VW Scirocco S.

welcome! and another of my favourite cars is the Scirocco, especially the 1st generation. They might be rarer than Midgets! As a '76, you are running a Zenith Stromberg, they tend not to run well at the best of times - and doubly so if the emission stuff has been removed and the air cleaner changed. I swapped mine for a rear SU (HS4?) from an MGB. About a 10 minute job to alter the bolt holes and IMHO it is a way better carb.
