TR5/TR250 Squealing brakes

I bought some EBC 'Green stuff' pads for my TR 2350. I also bought the anti-squeal shims, because I'm tired of telling the world I'm coming to a stop. They came with some rubber-like pad to attach to them. Any experience out there? Should I use the pads, the shims, or both? And are the pads good?

My experience with EBC Green stuff pads was less than stellar. I found they didn't perform any better than the much less expensive pads offered by other vendors. But my biggest complaint was the huge amount of brake dust they generated. I was constantly having to clean my wire wheels which were covered in dust after a very short time. I switched to a semi metallic pad and am much happier. But they did not squeal.

Not marque specific.
In all my years in auto repair, the knowledge gained from seminars and experience is All Disc Brakes Squeal. Our job was to minimize it.

Sometimes a fresh rotor surface. Usually the red or blue membrane on the back of the pads (allowed to set up in the sunshine for a bit), but bevelling the corners of the pads where they entered and exited contact with the rotor was the key.

Thanks to all. I'll bevel the pads and see if it helps. I did this once in the past and it seemed to work, so I'll try it again. I'll try this on the green pads - sorry to hear they are no better than what I've got now, but thanks for the heads-up. I love to experiment, so I'll let you know how it all works.
