    Hello from Buffalo, NY

    Hello Everyone,

I'm Mike and from Buffalo, NY. I bought a 1959 TR3 #44963 just about 3 years ago. The car was in pieces when I bought it and didn't have the right paperwork. It hasn't been on the road since 1974! After almost a year of tracking down people and getting death certificates for the previous owner, I finally got the transferable registration in the mail a few weeks ago. I'm excited to start working on it.

    Here's a pic for reference:

    Hello Mike

    Welcome to the forum

You will find that the Triumph section is very active and you will get plenty of help, tips and advice for your project.

Looks more together than the TR3A I picked up several years ago. How is the body work?

The Pub is an area for ranging discussions on almost any subject.

    Hi David,

Thanks! I will need all the help I can get.

The bodywork is OK, it needs new floors and probably new sills. The car was originally from Fredonia, NY so it probably saw a lot of salt.

    Hello Mike

Make sure you only remove one section at a time and work with the body on the frame to retain the integrity of the body. The PO that worked on mine must have had the body off the frame at some point and lost the door gaps. It took a lot of work to get the fit right again.

There are several books that describe the process well and are worth having around.
One being How to restore Triumph TR2,3,3A,4 and 4A by Roger Williams.

Thanks David, I will keep that in mind when I start to do some work in the coming months.
