I attempted to remove my 100's brake master cylinder today and by using a crow's foot attachment was able to loosen the nut for the hydraulic line from the reservoir. However because of the shape of the MC body I was not able to get the crow's foot attachment sufficiently onto the nut for the line going to the brakes.
I probably could have made up a special wrench to loosen the front nut but I doubted very much that after rebuilding/reinstalling the cylinder I could have gotten the two nuts started and tightened. So I got out the die grinder and carefully cut away a piece of the inner fender about 4" square which now gives me easy access to the cylinder, nuts, etc. And when I finish with the cylinder I'll reattach the metal piece with pop rivets or better yet dzuz fasteners so if I ever have to do the job again it will be a five minute operation.
Obviously the MC and lines must have been installed prior to the attachment of the inner fender and other body work but it would have been nice if someone had thought about making it possible (forget easy) to access what is essentially a service item.
