Sadly, I recently found out that one of my favorite American tool companies, after over a century in business, will soon no longer exist.
Chicago based Armstrong Industrial Tools was owned and operated by the Armstrong family for more than a hundred years.
In recent years they were sold to an industrial conglomerate and are now part of the same tool group as Allen, Gearwrench, Crescent and many others. The corporate powers-that-be have decided that the Armstrong brand of US produced tools is no longer needed and is discontinuing it entirely.
I am very, very sad.
