The summer of 2011 my son and I drug it out of grandma’s garage where it had been sitting for about 12 years. We spent 3-4 months getting it road worthy.
In the spring of 2012 I rebuilt the seats and carpeted the interior. At this point I thought I was done.
In November 2012 I could no longer stand all the cracks in the paint the prior poor body work. I was just going to smooth it out and give it a cheap paint job with boat paint. I ended up sanding off lots of bondo and re-doing all the prior body repairs along with some rust repair. This also turned into strip all the other parts down to bare metal and repaint (engine, springs, diff, suspension, etc). It turned into a full resto.
Sometime in 2013 my son bought a 2000 camero that spun a bearing the day we brought it home. We put in a junkyard motor, replaced the clutch, etc. that summer too.
Most of the work was done by the end of 2103. I broke my leg in February 2014 and spent a good part of the summer off my feet. Then repeated the same in the summer of 2015 when the “fix” didn’t hold and had to get it fixed again.
While I was off my feet, I recovered the dash, rebuilt the gauges, and made the fuse/relay panel.
In 2016 we moved - just across the neighborhood - but it still sucked up my free time for a while. Lots of new house projects ensued.
This spring I finally got serious about painting and that kickstarted the project again.
