This was posted on another forum:

It’s with great sadness that I have to inform you that my dad, Donald Elliott, is no longer with us. He died on March 16, 2018, with me, my sister Catherine, his brother John and his wife Louise at his side. We spent memorable moments with him before he left us.

We wish to inform you of the visitation arrangements which can be found on the Urgel Bourgie website: https://www.urgelbourgie.com/en/necrology-obituaries/51037-donald-elliott

Could you distribute the information on the visitation hours to the Club?
It would be most appreciated.

With a heavy heart,
Charles Elliott, son of Donald Elliott

I only knew Don from forums like this but had great respect for his TR knowledge. He took great pride in being the original owner of his TR3A and was always generous with what he knew about these cars.

Don was a member of the Toronto Triumph Club and would often make the 6 plus hour drive from his Home in Quebec to attend a Club meeting, BBQ or British Car Day. I was lucky to have met him and had the chance to see his beautiful black TR3A in person . For me he was always an email or a phone call away when I ran into any troubles on my 60 TR3A restoration. Through his presence on various online forums, he helped countless numbers of Triumph enthusiasts by tirelessly answering question and offering his expertise as an original owner.
Rest in Piece Don.

The wife just asked me who he was and I found this old photo on my hard drive. Taken in 2001, not far from the VTR convention in Breckenridge CO.

Sad news, indeed. Don was most welcoming to me when I first stumbled across this site over 10 years ago.
He was a wealth of info to this new-timer; being an original owner, he had seen it all.

God bless, Don!

I also knew don only through this and other forums. He was always my go to guy for advice on originality. He was also a gentleman. My sincere condolences to his family. He'll be missed here too.

This is sad news indeed. First met Don online while restoring my 56 TR3. During the restoration Don "dropped in" to our home in 2011 to see how the restoration was going and to give me a ride in his 58 TR3 to "encourage" me with my work. Later I met him at several British car shows and we always had great visits together. He was always engaging and helpful. A real loss within the TR3 world. Here is a picture from 2015 when our TR3s were together in Ottawa. Cheers, Mike

I truly appreciated everything he said about TR3s. When I found out he bought his car new in 1958, I would often wait for his input before I made decision. One of my favorites on the forum, thank you Don E. for it all.

Pat and I had the pleasure of Don at our dinner table back in 2007, when VTR was held near Philly. He was a true TR3A expert, and the only person I met who bought his TR new. It took me very little time to realize that he had forgotten more about these cars than I will ever know.
In his later years, Don stopped travelling to the US. Because of his numerous medical issues, he could not afford the special insurance for healthcare coverage here. On the other hand, he could travel throughout Canada and any other Commonwealth countries and be covered for free.
I will miss his pontifications about all things TR and his beloved "TRusty"
