Lumbar Support

I just ran across a 'Moss Motors Inflatable Lumbar Support" on-line
We're planning on a 1500 mile road trip in our BJ7 and - among other things - I'm concened about the amount of protection my butt will receive from the 56 year old seats as well as lower back support. Does anyone have any experience with this approach, or are there other suggestions (and any changes will be next year country; this year, we'll pack some fabric/sponges/whatever and try wedging this stuff between our anantomy's as appropriate.
Thanks, Doug

The wedge-shaped, foam-filled type have worked for me and my navigator--who has a bum back--for many thousands of miles (he just toughs it out). Costco had them on sale a while back. 'Inflatable' is French for 'Will leak eventually.'

I have several of these in; cars, office, recliner, etc...
Original McKenzie Super roll

They make larger ones. The superroll works best. Not too big.

Hi All,

It depends upon the degree of lumbar support you are looking for. The Healey's seats, in standard form, don't have even a hint of lumbar support and I found this condition quite uncomfortable on even local runs. As I got older, this condition became intolerable and, even though I did not want to use an additional lumbar pillow, I seriously considered doing so.

My solution was to unhook the bottom of the seat backs and place additional padding behind the covers. This allowed enough lumbar support (for me) and still retaining the look of a nicely padded original seat. There is, however, a limit to the amount of added padding the seat back will except before it starts to look uncomely and exaggerated, however, I had installed this padding over 15 years ago and those who noticed were most complimentary to its look and sitting feel.

I have the Moss inflatable lumbar support and it is useless as it can not be moved far enough down. The inflatable portion is small compared to the glued together outside edges. These outside edges prevent the pillow portion from getting down to the crack between the bottom cushion and the seat back. Might work in a nonHealey seat or somebody elses lumbar region.
