Attaching new BJ7 Dashboard To Body

I am replacing a my MKII BJ7 dashboard ... currently there is a BJ8 dash that was installed by a prior owner at some point. Can anyone advise me on how the BJ7 dash is secured at the sides and top to the body? The illustration in the Moss Motors catalog doesn't show any brackets/parts to do this other than an "escutcheon retaining plate" (part 108) that appears to go in the top middle area of the dash.

Any advice or pics would be appreciated.

Here is a picture of the side attachment. Does your car still have these curved ends still welded to the car or have they been cut to make the BJ8 dash work. I had to replace them on a car with a custom wood dash in order to put back the factory aluminum dash.

Wow, that's rough.

The early dash is held on with a total of five (5) screws; two (2) at each end, as Jim shows, and one (1) through the dash in about the middle, to a bracket on the scuttle.

The bracket in the center can just be seen above and the the right of the two (2) rivets on the steering wheel at about the 2:00 - 2:30 position

This may be a clearer picture of the LH-end fasteners...

Thanks so much...I have to take the plunge and pull the BJ8 dash out to see what is left, but I suspect the curved supports were cut out...I guess I will have to have them fabricated and welded to the frame.

Appreciate the picture!

Here's some pics of my BJ7. You see the curved pieces on the ends and the small cream white plastic cap is covering the off center screw that screws into the brace. Its not factory original but then nothing I build is factory original.

Before I go and try to have the curved support pieces fabricated can anyone tell me where I might find them as parts on line? I see nothing on Moss or the British catalogs. If someone has BJ7 parts car I would be will to purchase them if they can be salvaged?

Thanks

Call British Car Specialists in Stockton, CA. (209) 948-8767
They are stocking distributors for Kilmartin and will know if Kilmartin makes them. They also have a lot of 'used' stuff too.
If you aren't' familiar with them, Kilmartin makes the best quality replacement meal pieces I have used.

Jersey,

Kilmartin makes the parts in Australia, you can purchase them:

Kilmartin at https://www.kas-kilmartin.com.au/KAS Austin Healey Parts Description.htm (Scroll down to AH295)

or in the US from BCS at https://www.britishcarspecialists.com/KASCatalog/ (Go to Cockpit Area, then Dash)
