There is an interesting article on Jalopnik on the "best" car interior. The comments at the end make the article interesting; you need to click a few times to load all the comments, i.e. all the pictures of what people think are great (or not so) interiors.

I like the Alfa and the Mercedes myself. And am impressed with the compact GM X11 design, although aesthetically less pleasing.

As Thoreau wrote, "Our life is frittered away by detail. Simplify, simplify".

The two-piece windscreen says it might be a 540K instead. Here is a similar shot of a 500K I took at the 2006 concours on the grounds of the Oklahoma governor's mansion. It is owned by a local collector and went home with the best-in-show award over several worthy cars. Same guy also owns a beautiful Packard Twin Six towncar that has won its class at Pebble Beach as well as several other drool-worthy highly desirables. Oh, I found a better photo I took at his shop in 2008 that shows a little more of the interior. I got to visit with him a little. If I remember right he said he paid 6.5 M for it.

And now we have a totally virtual dash in the Audi Q5! No gauges at all... basically displays that one can re-arrange or re-size.
Who'd have thunk it would go this far.

I have to admit that it's fun to fool with the dash (done on the left side of the steering wheel).

I like the virtual analog dials and gauges, better to read at a glance. Nice that the map screen is right in front of the driver. NOT fond of touch screens off to the side. I prefer to be feel the controls so as not to have to take my eyes off of the roadway. Guess it just takes getting used to, I wouldn't know. The new cars I have driven are old now! :rolleyes2:

Yes, one can swap out the nav map to radio to fuel consumption, etc. Pretty amazing. Then you can reduce the size of the "dials" so that nav map is bigger. Of course the nav map is also present on its own 8" screen in the center.

My new Chevy truck has some of those features. Can't change the instruments, but with a push of a button on the steering wheel, it'll tell me so many things, from life expectancy of engine oil to how much air is in my tires and so many other things. I love the GPS speedo in the center of the dash, between the analog gauges. They've come a long way, some good and some not so good in my opinion. The bad, everything goes through a computer and we all know what that means! PJ

" ... everything goes through a computer and we all know what that means!"

frequent updates, software glitches, hacking, virus attacks, bloat-ware - nah, that never happens.

Let's see, I carefully move the pointer to the "fuel pump" icon, push once to check fuel level, and ...
