TR2/3/3A Home Again!

Well after being out at the shop for 3 months, I drove it home today! 50 miles in 40's temps. It drove real nice, the best ever! So the engine work I did last summer was good as the engine runs pretty smoothly and no overheating. I knew there were suspension and other issues, so I farmed those out.

This is what was done:

R/R engine to replace badly leaking rear main seal
Replace clutch while it was out
New ring gear on flywheel and reface
Fix fuel gauge
Replace most of the front suspension parts incl springs
New rear springs
Add seat belts
Rebush carb throttle shafts
New motor mounts

Plus a bunch of small misc stuff.

Cheers, Dave

Not sure which rear springs as the shop obtained them. But it rides pretty well considering.

Road trip - ha! Maybe in 5 or 6 months!

Thanks to all,

Dave

I love the picture in your post next to the picture in your signature. Fantastic!

Congratulations on getting your car back! It looks like you are enjoying it; I presume there is a smile under all that cover!

The shop is Vintage Restorations in Union Bridge MD. They specialize in LBCs but will work on old American iron as well. They are not cheap but do real nice work and they know what they are doing.

Actually in a year or so my stepson is taking it back to Texas. I originally was going to replace it with another 40s Buick but I had so much fun yesterday I am thinking of maybe another TR? Or MGA? Some LBC *that I can fit in*. I barely fit in the TR3 but I know I can't fit in any of the MG T series. I guess I could easily fit in an XK120 but that is waaay beyond my budget - toooo baaaad.

Cheers, Dave
