Wife wants to see Niagara Falls and Nova Scotia and I've never seen the Atlantic. Now if I could talk her into the trip in a upgraded Mk3 Sprite....

That trip would fit right into a follow up of the vintage races at Road America that we attend annually. Hmmmm....

Kurt.

Kurt,

We're actually encouraging folks to spend some vacation time with us and the hotel will extend the $129 rate an extra night for attendees that want to spend an extra night. This is a really great rate for the area. It's a nice ride from Cape Ann to Portland, ME where you can catch the CAT ferry to Nova Scotia: https://www.ferries.ca/thecat/ The Cabot Trail is really beautiful.

I'm mainly day dreaming Rick but the trip is intriguing to me. I'll bet I'd get the distance award!

I'll get to work on finishing up my MK3 Sprite though. Decided its going to get a Datsun engine and trans swap like my Midget.

Nova Scotia is so beautiful, I was there few times. Good combination of great parks, museums, restaurants and pubs. I don’t remember most of the names but there was this Foo-Asian street food restaurant which I loved, lots of things for vegetarians (and not only). We stayed at a very atmospheric apartment in Toronto https://tranio.com/canada/adt/1575109/. Was the best place in Canada, but I didn’t actually like Toronto that much.

Nova Scotia is gorgeous! Sorry you weren't crazy about Toronto - though compared to Paris..... (one of my favourite cities in the world)

There will be cold beverages in the fridge and possibly even a bed for those passing through. :driving:

Registration is Open!

Registration for the Healey Seaside Summit at the Wylie Inn and Conference Center in Beverly, MA is now officially open. It may seem a bit early to sign up for an event taking place on August 5-9, 2018, but there’s a very good reason for it … room availability.
We’ve secured a very favorable room rate of $129 per night (breakfast included)* at this wonderful seaside inn. To get that rate, the club was required to guarantee a set number of rooms (35) and we expect these rooms will be taken quickly. Registering for Summit and making reservations at the Inn early-on will be the only way to guarantee being on-site for all the Summit events. Although we expect more than 35 rooms to be available for those that make reservations later, there’s no guarantee and rooms in other locations in the area may not be available and will be considerably more expensive.
To help you decide on the events on the registration form that require pre-payment, here’s a brief description:
Lobster Dinner – A repeat of the very successful Lobster Feed at Tom and Judith Ann Webster’s home in Magnolia, MA. Boiled lobster, fresh native corn and tomatoes make this a New England summer must. Check out the January issue of the Healey Marque to see what a great time this will be. Alternative food will be available for the non-lobster folks.
Schooner Sail – An afternoon sail around Gloucester harbor on the fishing schooner "Thomas E, Lannon". This will be a perfect outing on a warm summer day. We’ve booked the Lannon for the exclusive use of the Seaside Summit, but she’s limited to 49 passengers, so again early reservations are going to be important. If we get more than 49 reservations, we’ll do our best to secure another boat, but no guarantee.
Banquet Dinner – This will be a fun one. Our banquet will be held in the conservatory at Tupper Manor on the grounds of the Wylie Inn. In keeping with the history of the Manor as the summer home of the Bryce Allen family, you’re invited to wear your best Gatsby-era finery to dinner. (And, no, you don’t have to if you don’t want to.) Our guest speaker will be noted UK Healey restorer Bill Rawles: https://www.rawlesclassiccars.co.uk/motorsport/
Escape Room - Timed to coincide with one of our tech sessions, this will give those who aren’t enamored with learning of the inner workings of a Healey distributor a nice option. Join with your friends, new and old, at Escape this Live, an interactive adventure game, where you’ll use skill and wit to escape from a locked room. (Hint for the claustrophobic, it’s symbolically locked, but not really locked because the fire department frowns on that kind of stuff).
Of course, these aren’t the only events scheduled for Seaside Summit, there are plenty more of your favorites, but we want to get out the information on the ones that require pre-registration. Stay tuned for more details in the future.
REGISTRATION DETAILS – Go to: https://www.ahca-newengland.org/summit-2018-registration.html and fill out the attached registration form and mail your check to our Registrar, Linda Hakala, at the address on the form and make your reservations with the Wylie Inn as indicated there. There are reduced prices for early registration, however, due to the requirement that the Club guarantee hotel rooms in advance, the registration fee is non-refundable. Same goes for the harbor sail on the Lannon as that has also been pre-paid by the Club. Fees paid for the Banquet, Lobster Feed and “Escape this Live” will be refundable if you are unable to attend and give notice prior to the date final counts are submitted to the providers. Refunds of room reservations at the Wylie Inn will be in accordance with their policy here.
* For those that wish to explore the area further, Thursday, August 9[SUP]th[/SUP] is a “bonus day”. The Wylie will honor our group rate of $129 for that evening, however, breakfast will not be included for Friday morning.
QUESTIONS may be directed to Rick Neville, Healey Seaside Summit chairman, at healeyseasidesummit@gmail.com.

This looks like a great event to attend. I will ask some of the Healey guys in Richmond about heading north this August. We have time to plan.

Please do, we'd love to have you. One of the reasons we've had so much early publicity is there are a fairly limited number of rooms available and we have just about filled our reserved block. Once that's done, people can still get our group rate but that is subject to other members of the public reserving rooms. There aren't a lot of other rooms available in the area for under $200 a night. So I'm recommending that if anyone is interested in coming, they have to make their plans soon or they are going to miss out.

I don't think we can make it as of now and I'm sure everything is getting booked up. Ho-hum...love to do it.
