need help with custom air deflector for BN1

Has anyone built and installed panels behind the grill to funnel air through the radiator? I can't find any source for the early Healeys.

These two pics were saved from the JME Healeys Facebook page. Album = "BN2 Racecar"

Thank you, that's the kind of stuff I was looking for. I was thinking I could only get an air hose on passenger side, was thinking steering box would get in the way on driver's side.

I will only have access through front grill and from sides with wheels removed.

BTW, the middle upright "divider" on the BN1, what does it do besides keep daylight from shining through the opposite wheel well? I had my off then I replaced it recently. If I do the sides like this car or something similar I don't think I would reinstall it. IMAG3484.jpg

I have a vague memory of a tech session held at David Nock's shop (British Car Specialists) he spoke about adding deflectors that were on later Healey's to BN1/BN2s and that it was possible. Easier than fabricating. I remember thinking "that's a good idea" and then added it on my extensive "to-do list". Might be worth sending him an email to be sure I'm remembering that right. http://www.britishcarspecialists.com

I saw this on another member's (steveg) website that he lists in his forum signature. It's a later model but I think the ideas work for our earlier cars...

Mostly .040" tempered sheet; also .030" . You can anneal it for bending with a propane torch if you're careful. The latter is easier to cut with snips.

Have to say I took more of a piecemeal approach to air control. Panels as shown in the above 100-4 photos might be easier than a lot of small panels as I have done.

Randy posted some pix in an earlier thread of his panels which might be appropriate.

Re: need help with custom air deflector for BN1

Tried installing today. Should have just started from scratch with aluminum panels and some cardboard and fabricated my own. Was thinking these would work on my BN1 or at least save me a lot of aggravation. They were not a good fit for a BN1. Ended up cutting them signficantly. Lesson learned.
