Any one know what this could be? I have scoured the images of TR3 interiors and I can't find anything that would attach.

Its located to the left of the glove box.

The long bracket is the support to the dash as well as the base for the heater. I am sure you knew that one. Then the smaller bracket underneath that is the ash tray bracket. The ash tray fit on this and slid in and out. As the ash tray was supposedly an option it is not found in many books. You of course are missing the actual ash tray.

+1 what Tush said I actually have one in my spare car! It had a Bakelite front, I could send a pic later??

I don't smoke, but I sure would like to put use to that bracket. Let me know when you get a pic. Thanks!!

You may change your mind when you find out what a decent ashtray costs.

Not so much the ashtray, more the Bakelite front...

The big problem with the ash tray is that it is right in the way of any taller passenger's left knee. I have seen the ash tray without the bakelite face plate at a more reasonable price--say under $100. For myself I purchased an ash tray and then got a very good photo of the face plate and made my own. I used JB WELD to make a blank then carved out the design on the face. I do believe that it came out very real looking.

Tush,
Sorry I gave the car to my son about 10 years ago. He does still have it. The picture that you posted looks just like it --or the other way around, if you get my meaning. I started with a measurement of the overall demensions for the blank. Then made it thick enough so the I could carve the face down to leave the ribs/ design.

Very crafty. This would also be a great project for someone with access to a 3D printer.

On another forum, another car, many small plastic bits that are NLA are being recreated on 3D printers. I haven't done this myself but have seen the photos of the results and see that it works well for some parts.

I got a friend who is who is great with these kind of tasks. I may send him the part to see what he could do! Once the design is in would anyone else need one??

The last photos from Tr3aguy show two screw heads on the front of the face plate They should NOT BE THERE. It is fastened from the back.
