An original restored would probably in the 65 to 75K range or higher, I'm guessing this car of bits and pieces from other cars, about 40K tops. All it takes is someone who likes it's looks and doesn't care about originality. PJ

Oh , I'm not interested in buying since I have plenty of useless British Cars already. Helpful hint: unless you are a midget you won't be able to get behind the wheel of this. On a TC you need the door open and you enter by dropping your left knee under the wheel and sliding your butt in, then pulling your legs in last. With no doors and that big of a steering wheel , the buyer for this is 'bout ready for the sixth grade.

Well, I was WAY off in price of a restored original, how about in the neighborhood of $ 400,000! :rolleyes2: PJ

Real re war MGs are gold at the moment, and an excellent investment. Would not worry about air filters, as many triple M cars never had them fitted. I was told that over 6 feet and you will never fit....not true and heard the same about my Grantura!

This car is a hand formed aluminum replica of that race car. It is mounted on MGTA frame and running gear. the engine is a XPAG t-series mated to a MGTC gear box. This combination of engine and gear box will allow for the best of power and reliability.
Everything is either new or rebuilt using the finest material. Many of the parts are NOS or original. The frame was sandblasted, powder coated and started from there. This is a no expense spared restoration.

I don't know.. at Current bid: US $25,100.00 and Reserve not met what are you getting? As stated later in this thread, "bitsa". To me, who would never buy it anyway, seems the 25K is way over what the value is.

Oh, yeah, come out to my garage and see my original 1936 MG Race Car.....and get laughed at by the experts.

My comment was meant for folks to keep care of there money. You are correct, I would no purchase the car. I am already a keeper of a pre war MG... My dream MG since I first saw one.
It is an alloy bodied PA. One of only seven known.
strange how people read a posting, as we need more younger peeps in the fold.
yes, you would get laughed at,as not many Q type racers are about. How about R types?

It's a joke calling that a Q-type. If it had a highly-supercharged OHC 750cc engine, it would be interesting. Now, it's just a special.

hmmm - is it my bad eyes ... or is there absolutely no room for air cleaners on those SU carbs?

TM

Tom, I'm assuming that like most race cars of the period, air cleaners were not used for more than likely two reasons, they wanted no air restriction for max power and those engines were tore down and rebuilt after a couple races. Also, being in England, the roads probably had more mud on them than dust. :highly_amused: PJ

43 bids by 14 bidders. You can see port scanning by several....incremental bumps to see where the reserve is...then they give up as the reserve not met, price too high.
Highly interesting is the last bid.
First bid from t***u and it was a c-note bump just before bidding ended.

Sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose. I was lucky enough to be the winning bidder on a 69 MGC last year that I won by increasing my bid by $100. Won the car for $6500. I was sure that the guy I was bidding against who had the highest bid at $6400 was going to have a auto bid of $6600, but it was my lucky day and he had stopped at 64. Good thing because I'd reached my max.
