    Re: Ebay of the Day

Was thinking it would make a nice art instillation with this bit.

May even find more pieces to add to it.

    Re: Ebay of the Day

Hey, this is actually a good one. These appear to be the original bellows thermostats, for a better price than usual ($25 vs Moss $114!). They look much more substantial than the repops too. The repop I bought looks like it was home made. I'm picking one up as an extra...

    Re: Ebay of the Day

Good to know. I think I'll get a couple just in case. They do not seem to be that rare right now, although that's subject to change as well as the price. I got one from another vendor, an AC Delco TF2, NOS in the box for about the same price a few weeks ago. Works fine. Make sure they have the blanking sleeve though. These do.

    Re: Ebay of the Day

And in addition they want $45 to ship it.
Interesting too that this is an "auction" with the 500 being the opening bid. Definitely a take it or leave it item, although a "not buy it now" which would indicate to me that he thinks it might go for even more.
This seller also has 100% positive feedback with 8500 (130+ per month) positive reviews as a seller. Those sellers are getting rarer. I'd guess that he will eventually get his price.

    Re: Ebay of the Day

I agree, Tom. I see this more and more, where a handful of seller's know when a simple little part is NLA...and they try to see how much the market can bear. I'm guilty this summer of purchasing a $50 tire valve removal tool, that I could have made on my lathe for 25 cents of material and 5 minutes. I'm not proud, but it was the only item I lacked in the tool roll, and there had been no others for 9 months. I am certain the seller knew too, as he had relisted it 6 times before I bit during a weak moment. If you finished an entire TR2 resto and only lacked this mouth trim...I could see being tempted, even at $500.

Well, last night we learned what a not quite original Triumph radio console with a period not quite right radio goes for...$362. I can only imagine what the real deal would bring!

    Re: Ebay of the Day

Holy cow, and sold at that. Jeez, I have a couple of them, real deals with the Triumph logo and all. Of course, they don't work but what does that minor flaw matter?

Amazingly, the seller opened with $25. I even considered bidding until it went crazy.

Won by a snipe too. Hope the legitimate bidders are not too disappointed. I didn't think those radios were all that rare or desirable but what do I know.
Conjurers a bit of nostalgia though, listening to the newly released "Summer in the City" at maximum volume compete with the engine, wind and road noise on my way to Lake George in my TR3 back in the mid sixties. But not $362 worth of nostalgia.

Do you think he'd take a check...or would he want "real" money for that?
