TR4/4A Hey CJD...gravity bleed clutch MC and slave?

I reread one of my old posts on gravity bleeding and you said that the MC should be "primed" before doing this to prevent an air bubble in the cylinder. Did you mean to bench bleed the MC first or is the air bubble normally trapped in the slave? I already have the slave set up on the gearbox ready to go but the master is not connected as I'm waiting for a pipe connector from Moss. I haven't had any luck with the other bleed methods so I'm going to try the gravity bleed.

Not CJD - but FWIW, I never do a bench bleed. In the unlikely event that the MC seems to need a prime I just crack open the outlet line and pump slightly until some fluid comes out.

Not CJD here either, but as long as the master is sucking fluid, it will bleed. It is very easy to bleed also, by any means, at least in my experience. Here's a variant of the gravity method suggested to me by a local club member: Seal the bleeder with Teflon tape. Push a 1/4 hose on the nipple and lift the hose above the master cylinder. Pump a little to get it started then let gravity do it's thing.

Hey, it's me! Wife's in the hospital, so I've been sitting with her with nothing better to do than surf the forums!?!

All I meant is that sometimes the master cylinder occasionally traps enough air that the siphon won't start. I did the TR2 last month, and the master primed with a few slow pumps of the pedal (in the car). Once the fluid starts down the line, then gravity takes over. It's not as fast as doing it with a partner...but it'll get it done.

I am not CJD either, but whatever he said goes double for me.---- Back in the day with older type brake fluid, some old school guys would crack the zerks to let a slight drip of fluid out and just let all 4 bleed out to get any water out that was attracted by the fluid.
