MGB I don't know how or why, but I think I will need a new clutch :[

I live in S Florida and have never ridden the clutch. Granted a few other members of my family have driven it from time to time, but I've instructed them on driving a manual. I have gone so far as to say that if you tape a feather to the clutch pedal, you are riding it.
Yet when I took it out the other day on the highway, it was not accelerating under the gas, rather revving without acceleration.

Not ever having done a clutch job on these cars, and not having done one for 20+ years on any car, I will need to take it to someone who can do the work. What am I facing man hour wise, and ballpark total for parts/labor?

Needless to say if any of my fellow members live in S FL and/or have any suggestions/recommendations, I'd appreciate it?

I don't live in your area, but here is my 2-cents: Shop labor to pull engine, repair clutch and replace clutch should be in the range of 8 hours. I assume $80/hour labor, but it may be different in your areas. MM lists their most expensive clutch kit at $151.99 (plus shipping). That should give you ballpark info to figure out the job in your area. The great unknown here though are the "might as wells." Clutch hydraulics, leaking seals, motor mounts, broken studs/bolts, cooling system hoses and the like. These things tend to add up and have the potential to greatly affect the bottom line.

In addition to talking to repair shops, I recommend you contact your local LBC club and see what advice or resources they have to offer. Lot's of great talent out there.
