TR2/3/3A SU H6 Rebuild Bench Test

Have to rebuild both my carbs. Had both the throttle shafts re-bushed by Joe Curto. But didn't have him rebuild them, $$$ problems at the time. I am doing the rebuild myself, always an iffy project. I was wondering if there is some way to bench test them after I have finished the rebuild. I am doing them one at a time. I have a fair amount of experience with carb rebuild, including a couple of SU's years ago. Operative words "years ago". Would like to bench test them as they are finished.
Any thoughts or ideas greatly appreciated!

You might try clamping the carb in a vise, at the same angle its mounted on the engine. If you can pour gas into the bowl, with the needle and seat in place, you can check for leaks. Try pulling the jet down, as the choke cable would, and see is gas comes out the jet. If it does the float maybe be to low or not sealing. Check the drop of the of the needle in the air chamber. University Motors has a could of good videos on that, along with using a hose for carb syncing.

+1 for the drop test, which is part of the rebuild process. I do everything else on the car. They are not that hard to get on and off. Tom

I don't know if this fits in the 'bench test' category, but setting the mixture adjustments equally to the middle as a baseline and adjusting the opening of the throttle discs equally to their approximate idle positions is something you might want to do on the bench.
