It's just been announced that Ed China has decided to leave wheeler Dealers.

I have been a fan of the show since episode 1 and found Ed's mechanical snippets both interesting and inspiring with my own projects. I was lucky enough to meet Ed a few months back at a classic car show in the U.K. and he was a very genuine and down to earth guy to chat to.

Lets hope he returns with another show?

That's too bad. Seeing Edd assess and fix the cars was the reason I watched. I really liked the earlier shows where they had no money, bought and fixed up "Average Joe" cars, and then called it success if they actually sold the car, and made a profit. Without Edd, I worry that it will just be another personality-based "reality" show - and there are already way too many of them (IMHO).

even tho i have never seen his show I have heard about him. I hope Velocity doesn't buy him up and turn him into another ridiculus reality show where they know nothing and show nothing.

Nope ... I'd watch it most times it came on and Velocity used to run 'mini-marathons;' esp. before a new season started. GF became a 'Wheeler Dealer Widow.'

I find Edd's contribution in the shop the most interesting part of the program, and the main reason I watch it. I suspect I'll be giving it a miss in future.

Definitely a very big loss. No doubt Wheeler Dealers was one of the the very best in what is mostly a vast wasteland of carguy reality shows. I can't imagine how they managed to produce the show, usually covering one car completely with each episode. Edd's work was always so educational and credible. He must have gotten mad by never getting paid for his labor on their projects! I always though that part was a bit hard to take, though no one has ever paid me for my work on my Healey either....

I always assumed Mike and Edd split whatever profit they made. Plus, they were paid something for just being in the show, weren't they?

I always assumed there was a lot going on off camera, including some pretty decent paychecks/royalties for the principals.
You'd think they'll be showing reruns for quite a long time.

Edd'll pop up again soon.
