MGB In over my head, and loving it.

:tongue:As much as this forum hate my attempt to upload pictures, I'll try again... I have my car mostly disassembled, from the shifter forward, aside from removing the engine. This week I purchased a nice hobart mig welder, a new torque wrench, a 4.5 inch angle grinder with cutting disks and sanding flap wheels, I still get to go next week and spend another $250-300 on my first welding gas cylinder for the mig welder. I have rust in the drivers side front floor/toe panel, and 1 spot in each sill. I plan to build a rotisserie. If for nothing else than to be able to degrease and paint the bottom. At this moment I have no questions. Just updating my current status. I've blown through over $1000 just for tools in one week, and I almost don't have any left for parts.

I couldn't be more excited.

Go buy two harbor freight engine stands and make your rotisserie out of them. Pick up the front and rear bumper mounts. Should cost a mear $100 to get it done.
best,

Progress is progress -- and you don't blow through money for tools, you *invest* money for tools. At least that's what I tell myself.

Wood doesn't last long around here. Too wet and too many termites. (I'm still working outside). The HF engine stand idea sounds good, how high is the rotation centerline? I figured 3 ft would give me six inches on clearance from the ground when it's sideways.

I've looked at some of the wood rotisserie designs, including the ones where its just a way to roll it one direction. I'd rather have metal. At some point it'll be used on the Alfa too.
