Best interior supplier

Yep, I know this horse has been beat pretty bad, but it's been awhile since someone posed this question. I'm to the point of needing to order an interior for my Iris Blue Bugeye and I would like y'all's thoughts. I know the Hardura floor piece is NLA and while I really don't want carpet, what are my options? I'll use the Hardura in the back since that is available and may go black vs dark blue just to break it up...blue dash, blue panels, blue car, and blue seats. Does anyone have pictures of an Iris Blue Spridget they've done?
Now, who has the best quality at decent prices? I want to do it right since I've put so much into it and I've thought about VB, Moss, and AH Spares...anyone else have good suppliers?
Thanks, Rut

Here is one from my library to look at.....not sure why things don't match well. I do like the light blue piping with the darker blue vinyl.
Cheers,
Scott
BTW....I used AH Spares for the seats and they provided extra vinyl
and, I just heard from BillM, to whom I sold my 60FROG 2 1/2 years ago, he just received his 20th trophy for the car! Add my 5 and the car must be still looking good!

I went with black. Not stock but it looks good and since the rubber floor is not available, no restored car will ever be totally stock. I sewed the seats (posted a thread on the process) and made all the panels. If you have a local guy and a pattern, the advantage you will have consistent materials for the car.

Guys,
Thanks for the info! I've looked on the following websites for info and pricing, Prestige (carpet only available), Moss, AH Spares, and VB (limited products). So far AH Spares has the most complete selection and the prices are decent...my goal is a good product that matches each piece. Any more ideas?
Thanks, Rut

In the foot-well I'm partial to the AMCO replica floor mats and the aluminum kick pieces over the square re-enforcement tube. Easily cleaned and durable.

Kurt,
Thanks for your input! I have a set of original Amco mats that came with the car and they're in pretty good shape. I've never seen the aluminum crossmember covers in person and I assume they are removable? I wonder if they make something similar in a rubber or vinyl material?
Thanks, Rut

I used AH Spares seat covers, base. I'm still happy with them. They supply the proper rubberized horse-hair for the seat back. I think other's use foam. Also, I recall the little clips costing ten cents/piece from AH Spares when Moss wants 7x that...

I used VB, except that their "1969 Only" kit didn't come with material for the headrests, which set 1969 apart from the rest of the Sprite line. I went to Joe's Upholstery in Frederick, MD and they did a great job with the headrests. As much of a pain as the seats were, I probably should have just let them do the whole job. Here's my results...they make a good "10 foot" appearance, but I think that is more on me than the kit.

Hi Rut, I got my seats and carpet from Prestige and my panels from Mirror Trim. They both looked great and liked the color matches. Part of the reason I chose them was the color choice of tan or beige. However recently I have noticed some problems with the carpet fraying. Just yesterday I sent a message to Prestige to see if they have a guarantee for the carpet. Haven't heard back yet.I do have over 5,000 miles this summer but still believe they should stand up better.

Just as a side note, I bought 60 FROG from Scott in January 2014 so I have not owned it for two years until January 2016.
I guess my question is should trophies stay with the owner or go with the car.
Just Kidding.

Tom that carpet looks like it doesn't have any woven backing the way it's just coming apart. Hope they will warranty it for you.

Best for quality and price in balance is AH SPARES. Best outright for quality is Heritage Trim.

Well put. I got a quote from Heritage...It was in the 3K range and while the samples looked exactly right, I couldn't see that much for 2 seats, a dash and everything else supplied, but I would have to do the instal....Bizzaro world.

Well, the aluminum is fluted and look's really classy. I've seen them screwed into place but mine seem to stay put just as they are. A look at the Moss catalog show's they have gotten a bit pricey though.

I've researched the vendors online and some have a few parts and a couple have everything. The picture of Toms Prestige carpet pretty much rules them out as well. I think it's now between AH Spares and Moss since they both have a complete selection and AH Spares looks to be good quality at a decent price. The Heritage website was very hard for me to navigate and the prices people have quoted are out of line for a basic car like a Bugeye. I'll total up both and see what the damage will be and my preference is to buy from Moss if the quality and price are similar...Moss has always been good to work with. Let me know your thoughts on the Moss interior if you have one.
Thanks, Rut

Rut, I just received this from Prestige.
Won't be using their product in my TR6 after this experience.

Dear Tom,
I’m sorry to hear there is a problem.

Unfortunately the carpet set is out of warranty. Based on your pictures, we don’t know why this has happened because nothing seems to be pulling on these areas or interfering with these areas. Is the gear shift boot caught on the underside of the binding? Can you see if anything is interfering with this areas to cause the carpet to pull away?

Kind Regards,

Chris

Tom,
Sorry to see that reply from Prestige...Moss has backed me on several items and that's why I lean toward them. Product quality is one thing, dealing with a quality issue is very telling...gives you some insight about how they think of the customer.
Thanks, Rut

Rut, check with Moss to see if your blue color is the one you want....I see on their website that it comes with the same color blue piping.
I have found that AHSpares is more flexible regarding colors.....as an example, Moss would not make a red tonneau cover....that I had to get from AHSpares. I had a bit of trouble fitting the carpet I got from Moss onto the rear wheel wells.....As I was showing the car in Morgan Hill, one of the guys from Moss was there. I told him about the problem, and he admitted that it was not right and the solution had already been made to the pattern. I do not think that you can go wrong with either one.....check to make sure that you can get everything you want and that it all matches.
cheers...scott....BTW I had the same experience with Prestige.....too expensive and not totally clear they had a handle on the situation.

Below is the response I sent and immediately below is the response I received in return. Apparently it is my fault for not buying the higher priced carpet although rechecking the web site there is nothing saying the carpet I purchased has a short life expectancy.

Hi Tom,
It’s unusual for this sort of thing to occur but as a side note the carpets we offer are priced according to quality they offer.

For example: Our Classic Wool carpet has a much denser pile and is more durable. We also recently carried out a full re-trim of a TR6 using German Velour carpet, which is original for Mercedes SL. it is the finest carpet available and has an extremely dense and luxurious pile that is very similar to the original TR6 carpet. The quality of the carpet all depends on how much you are willing to spend.

I have attached a picture of the TR6 with the German Velour carpet fitted. it has Racing Green, hand rolled leather binding. We also trimmed the car with full Connolly leather seat covers and full Connolly leather door panels. Please let me know if this level of quality and finish is of interest for you and I will get back to you with a price.

If you are interested, we can send you a replacement tunnel piece for $160.00 including shipping.

Kind Regards,

Chris

Chris,
The only possibility I can think of would be from vacuuming the carpet. The nylon strands are all that hold the carpet together and they easily can pull out of the edge trim. As far as I am concerned it is a result of poor quality in the construction and materials.

I will do what I can to repair the damage. One good thing is that it happened with the product installed in my Midget. I am now restoring my TR6 and I learned my lesson and won't have this problem this time.
