I love the color combination.............especially with the new wheels. I will be looking for new tires this year; what size and brand did you decide on........ yours appear to to be a great fit for your car and will look perfect when the rear suspension settles.

    Re: Looking pretty

Work continues , some major hurdles overcome , it's getting close .
Door panels ,caps & hardware , rear quarters , rear seat back , dash pad , console , seat belts , valance and bumpers and she's done .
PS she will be for sale so if anyone is seriously interested PM me or email me .
BTW , I know the top isn't fastened , I was letting the fabric relax and stretch out after being in cold storage for the past 3 yrs before attempting to latch it to the windshield .

As for the shoulder , will find out this week as I have what maybe my last visit to see the surgeon who I think is going to give me the all clear

    Re: Looking pretty

Healey Nut, Maybe you mentioned it at some point, but I don't recall: Did you paint the car with the body panels permanently installed? If the body panels were on the car, were the strips between the fenders or wings and the shrouds installed before painting? I have never installed those strips before and assume that they need to go on at the time of installing the fenders/wings.

I'm slowly moving towards (procrastinating some might say) painting the BN4 and BJ7 and still debating whether to paint with the body panels on or off the car.

    Re: Looking pretty

The inside of the wings and mating edges of the wings and shrouds were painted body colour with the parts off the car . All the panels were then fitted to the car and the final blocking and sanding done along with primers sealers etc . The wing beads were then installed and the wings permanently fixed aligned and the beading masked off very precisely . The car was then colour painted and the wing bead masking removed very carefully .

    Re: Looking pretty

Mine is running at last and all this time. I bought a rebuilt engine from LA and it turned out to have been done badly and full of blasting grit, so I've had to do it all again. Every bit of it, but here it is after forty of miles. I'll sort Tappets out when I torque the head at 100 miles and check everything else.

I'm looking forward to getting some miles on it now. It's lovely and smooth and surprisingly lively for lad iron.

Your fan shroud is the wrong colour it should be hand painted red

I know! I had the rad re-cored and that's how it came back. To the company in question it was just another radiator. Infidels!

Well, it sounds good and the red is easily fixed.

I do have one question considering your location: When you say "LA" is that Los Angeles, Louisiana, or somewhere in the UK?

    Re: Looking pretty

I bought it from someone in Los Angeles and had it shipped over here. I should have stripped it out and started again, I did the cylinder head, but it had been bored and ground and appeared to have a new cam. However, although it looked as though it had been cleaned, it had abrasive material in the oilways, the cam had just been polished and was worn out, the Tappets were no good and on it went. As is not unusual, it was a rotten rebuild, but it's very good now and sounds and feels right. I've never seen so much oil pressure before.

Well its getting down to the fine details now . Progress has been slow due to a new home build that Im doing but part of that is a new 32X40 workshop with 13ft ceilings so lots of room for the hoist and toys and room to work .

    Re: Looking pretty

Well, 2017 is almost done so time for an update on the 64. Not a lot has happened as I was building the house, but that's mostly done now so once I finish working on the Vantage and her Z4 to tuck them away for the winter nap I can get back on the 64 and finish it .
But first the disclaimer ... if you are a concours purist, look away, do not read this post as it may cause heart palpitations shortness of breath and possible anaphylaxis..
I decided after a very long debate to go with repro stainless bumpers as I only had one good OEM candidate for rechrome and seeing as I am absolutely not a concours guy and never will be I went stainless.
I picked them up today from my local UPS store and they are stunning. You can't tell they are stainless unless you use a magnet on them, the finish is so highly polished. They came off flea bay and the cost was about the same as if I had the originals redone.
Just a reminder if anyone is interested , she will be for sale once completed as I have the 62 Tri-Carb with Jule superstructure waiting to get done and after all I really can't drive 3 Healeys and the Vantage. If you are interested PM or email me.
    Happy new year all.
