Re: BJ8 wiring diagram in ladder logic

The schematic and ladder logic diagram are both informative but what would really complement them would be a set of photos showing how the wiring is actually done; e.g. the rat's nest on the scuttle,...

Re: The Journey Begins - BJ8 restoration

At speed, you can't hear the radio--I have an original BMC with a 6" Radio Shack speaker--but it's because of the wind noise.

Re: The Journey Begins - BJ8 restoration

Agree the rear of a BJ8 looks too high--apparently, BMC was too cheap to redesign the wheel wells when they upgraded the rear suspension--but if you lower the rear you'd have to forgo the resonators....

Re: Identifying a Ring and Pinion

I think BN2s originally came with a 4.1:1 rear end, so that would be a bigger change than the 3.9 that was in my BJ8. At any rate, for a highway cruiser like my BJ8 the 3.5whatever is a blessing. ...

Re: Identifying a Ring and Pinion

Is there really a difference; i.e. different tooth counts on the pinion or ring, or both? I've always used 3.5 and 3.54 interchangeably.

Re: The Journey Begins - BJ8 restoration

One part of the 'Healey Feel' most of us, I think, could do without is the slop in the steering, so R&P would be great. I see the Jule's shock plates are fixed; any idea what camber and caster...

Re: The Journey Begins - BJ8 restoration

It's your car, do what you want, but I think you'll be missing out on the 'Healey Experience' if you swap out the original gearbox/OD combo. Yes, pretty much any modern 5- or 6-speed transmission is...

Re: Rough Idle - What to check?

Check your carb pistons: sometimes, a jet needle will come loose and drop into the jet and car will run on 3 cyls, then 'fix itself,' then break again.

    Re: Rear Axle Restoration

Agree wholeheartedly; over a few hours at highway speeds it reduces fatigue appreciably. Also makes second gear more usable and makes first gear occasionally usable. Does cut acceleration a bit,...

    Re: Hesitant starting

Given you're in Sweden, I don't think that's unusual for a COLD start. Both my BN2 and BJ8 behave the same way.

Re: Time to build oil pressure

I don't think the OEM, canister-style filters have an anti-drainback mechanism; I think it would take a few seconds to fill an empty canister. A good spin-on filter with a silicone anti-drainback...

Re: How to tell if a starter is going bad?

These are typical symptoms of a failing solenoid; esp. if all you get is a click. How old is yours?

Re: Oil filter block plate - really?

A spin-on filter would require a threaded nipple in the block; I'd remove the plate and see if there's a threaded hole for a nipple.

So, the obvious question is: is there another type of filter;...

    Re: Radiator & Engine Flush

Re: Adjustment of carbs on 65 BJ8
