General MG Re: How do you define the "soul" of a car?

I suppose it has to do with the way the old cars have a feel, a sound and a smell that you don't get in the newer cars. Those sensations take us back to the time of our youth with cars weren't nearly...

General MG How do you define the "soul" of a car?

i asked this question elsewhere after someone comparing the MGB to the Miata stated that the Miata had no "soul". I've often seen that comment used in that comparison, but have always been a bit...

MGB Re: Found the leak, now what?

Looking at your pic again, I can see that I was wrong. That's NOT the pressure relief valve. I'm not sure what it is. I've got a spare block I'll look at and see if I can help....

MGB Re: Found the leak, now what?

Wrong side for the oil pressure switch....that's the oil pressure release valve location. There should be a cap nut in that hole with a washer underneath Maybe it's just loose?

    General MG Re: New Project

Mickey.....I'll bet you can find a flat automotive air filter of the appropriate size at your local parts store. So many new cars use a flat, pleated filter they come in many, many sizes.
  7. MGB Re: First of probably many questions - driveshaft transplanting:

Since you're not going to separate the two propshaft sections, you'll be fine since there is no chance of changing the phasing...
  8. MGB Re: early transmission vs od transmission for 3 main engine

I believe so. I do know that the two are interchangeable....

I wonder if anyone has the phone number 867-5309 now, and if they still get calls asking for Jenny?

I hope this isn't breaking any forum rules. I don't have any connection with this product other than as a happy buyer - and the the fact that it was produced at my suggestion. Mods: If it is against...
  13. General MG Re: MG Driver back issues....FREE! Anyone want them?

No....you just have room to haul home different stuff :)
  14. General MG Re: MG Driver back issues....FREE! Anyone want them?

They're going to Kevin! I'm glad someone wanted them :)
  15. General MG MG Driver back issues....FREE! Anyone want them?

I have a lot of duplicate issues of the MG Driver from May/June 2003 to January/February 2014. There are a few issues in that range missing, but most are there and in perfect condition. Anyone want...

MGB Re: Are people willing to pay $31K for a 66 B?

I look at it this way. It would cost more than that to hire out a complete resto - and would take many months to finish. You could do all the work yourself, probably spend that much money and...

    MGB-GT Re: Back at It

If you work out a way to install an idle up solenoid like Paul pictures above, wire it so it's triggered by the power to the AC clutch. That way, it'll only kick in when the AC compressor is running....

  19. General MG Early Midget horn push on Personal wood rim steering wheel...

For 16 years I've been looking at the cheap looking plastic center button on my Personal steering wheel, and lusting after MUCH nicer looking ones on the early MGBs. I thought about trying to adapt...

I haven't bought much from Gordon, but that's only because I haven't needed much. His parts and service are always top notch. I've never heard anyone say anything bad about either!

    MGB Re: Which exhaust mainfold?

You can use either exhaust manifold. Just make spacers to make up the difference in thickness. Quick easy way is to cut a couple of thick washers in half...or stack thinner washers if needed....

MGB Re: Air leaks and fast idle speed

You can check for a vacuum leak easily enough, but I don't think you have a problem. It's normal for the idle speed to increase as the engine warms up. IMHO, a 1500 RPM cold idle is too high. Try...

MGB Re: Are my wheels too far gone?

I don't think you'd get tubeless tires to hold air on those - and, even tubes would probably get punctured pretty quickly. If you have some old tubes you're gonna replace anyway it might be worth a...
