    Re: engine hoist

The two studs on top of the head that hold down the valve cover. That's the factory location, but you also need a way to tilt the engine front to back. This is one type:...

Outstanding career for Pat Moss' brother!
  3. Re: Disk Brake Conversion - Pipe Flare Problem?

If you get the correct flaring tool to make the flair, most tubing cutters have a groove in the wheels so you can cut the tubing right at the flair. Do that to the Moss tube, slip on the correct nut...

    Re: Repacking the muffler

1,200 F is too low? They coat steel exhaust tubing with aluminum.
  5. Re: Wow, I didn't know this - more than the Manhattan Project!

Amazing how projects grow in size, starting with a little project for a bomb and then having to defend against it.

Re: Pourquoi viens-tu si tard ?

Nice looking 100. Of course it's not the rare one with the non-louvered hood.
  10. Re: it's cold and i'm bored... waiting for parts...

Looks like a great idea. One suggestion would be to put a 1" x 2" lip on the front edge. Cover it with vinyl. That will keep anything on the to from sliding off during a normal stop. I would also...

    Re: Repacking the muffler

Interesting. I recall looking into the end of my Moss replacement muffler and seeing no sign of any packing.

    Re: Restoration project, needs work

Error in listing: they claim "dual carburetors", but not only are they missing but so is most of the intake manifold.

Starting with that and $100,000, you too could have a nice Healey.

    Re: Of bits 'n bytes

I just replaced my 5400 HDD with a 1T SSD. Migrated the OS to the SSD and disconnected the HDD. Much faster, of course.

    Re: jag brakes

The Denis Welch calipers that I bought about 20 years ago seem to be from a TR6, at least they take a TR6 rebuild kit. The slot for the rotor is 21/32".
  18. Re: Seems a bit ironic. Incandescent bulbs are still here.

Incandescent bulbs are still around as long as the new ones aren't 40W, 60W, 75W or 100W. The old ones are allowed as long as they were manufactured before their cut-off date. New ones I have I've...

    Re: jag brakes

Like Steve, I have a split system with four wheel disc brakes, proportioning valve and no booster on my BN4. My front calipers are Girling 16s so they fit BJ8 pads, but they appear to be from a TR6....

I agree with Randy that the Moss kits are fine at a reasonable price. I installed their kits (seats, carpets and panels) in my Longbridge BN4 and the patterns are pretty close. They are limited in...
